HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The average gas price in Hopkinsville is once again reaching the $4 mark, with diesel prices hitting a record high locally and throughout the state.
According to the AAA website, the average cost for diesel in Hopkinsville is $6.26, with the highest recorded average ever recorded occurring just a few days ago on Sept. 20 at $6.29. This time last year it was half the price at $3.51.
This surge comes in the middle of harvest season for Christian County where local farmers rely on diesel to fuel equipment and trucks to move products.
The average price for regular fuel in Hopkinsville is currently $3.99. Just last month in August, the average was $3.57, and this time last year gas prices were almost a full dollar lower at $2.75. The highest average price for regular fuel ever recorded occurred in 2022 at $4.61.
