CHRISTIAN COUNTY, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A Hopkinsville woman received an aggravated DUI charge Thursday night after causing severe damage to residential property while under the influence of alcohol.
Just after 7 p.m. on Oct. 1, deputies with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single vehicle crash on Forest Park Boulevard. The vehicle had driven through a brick mailbox at a residence, destroying it and causing around $500 worth of damage.

The 40-year-old Hopkinsville woman was identified as the driver of the vehicle and was approached by deputies. CCSO noted that she overwhelmingly smelled like perfume, assumed to be an attempt to cover up the scent of alcohol. The arrest report notes that she was unsteady on her feet and slurred her speech.
After further evaluation and a 0.247 on the breath test for alcoholic consumption, she was placed under arrested and charged with aggravated operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and criminal mischief.
