HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – An Oak Grove man with multiple warrants out for his arrest was taken into custody after being suspected of stealing several hundred dollars’ worth of Pokémon cards.

On Oct. 4, officers with the Hopkinsville Police Department were dispatched to the Walmart on Clinic Drive around noon in reference to an active shoplifter. HPD says they were advised of the vehicle and tags that the suspect left in, and the suspect was located nearby on Fort Campbell Boulevard.

A traffic stop was attempted near Lowes, and the vehicle “disappeared” behind Dairy Queen before the suspect fled on foot, according to an arrest report. He was successfully apprehended by police in the Lowes parking lot, and multiple unopened packs of Pokémon cards, valued at just over $400, were found in his jeans and underwear.

The suspect, identified as Brandon Nixon is facing thirteen total charges after he was found to have several outstanding warrants from various cities in Tennessee and Kentucky including probation violation for a felony offence, non-payment of court costs, theft, shoplifting, and failure to appear. He was additionally charged with two fugitive charges.

Nixon had been previously trespassed from Walmart, and in regard to the most recent shoplifting he is being charged with burglary in the third degree and fleeing or evading police.
