HOPKINSVILLE, KY – Dogs and cats of all ages, breeds, sizes are waiting to be adopted at the Christian County Animal Shelter. The shelter is at 2935 Russellville Road, and the phone number is 270-887-4175. Business hours are Tuesday-Saturday from 10:30-4 p.m. and the shelter is closed for lunch from 12:30-1 p.m.
Here are two animals the shelter recommends this week for adoption:
Meet Orie! She’s a 1.5 year old female Aussie/pointer mix who was released to the shelter due to landlord refusal. She has since been SPAYED and brought CURRENT ON HER RABIES via the shelter’s GET EM DONE program. She is good with children as well as other animals. However, it is advised she go to a home with older children and where she can be closely monitored because she does some serious resource and toy guarding. She definitely does not share well with others. She is fully house trained as well as crate trained. She also does pretty well on a leash. Orie has been at the shelter for over a month now. Someone please give this girl the chance she deserves. Her adoption fee is FULLY SPONSORED.

This handsome young man is Chase. Chase is a 3 year old tabby and white long haired male cat who was owner released to the shelter due to an eviction. He is great with other cats as well as litter box trained. We do not know how he is with children or dogs. He’s a very loving handsome boy. He has been neutered and brought up to date on vaccinations through the shelters spay neuter program. His adoption fee is $42.25.
The shelter also recommends two additional pets this week.
Haven 12:10 Animal Sanctuary:
Promise is an approximately 7 to 8 year old spayed English Pointer that was dumped on the County road in Northern Christian County- it took about 2 weeks to catch her and some very creative following techniques Promise hss obviously been through a lot in her life… she successfully completed heartworm treatment and is now heartworm negative and she has had a few tumors removed (she does have a few still but removal is not mandated at this time according to the vet); all have been benign thankfully. We’re not sure of her background obviously we think she was probably a breeder dog and then dumped. She has some quirky habits and doesn’t always understand how to communicate with other dogs… She does extremely well with our Dachshund and our laid back Great Pyrenees though! She has two speeds- complete stillness or really fast and silly fun ! She is extremely affectionate although still fearful when approached bless her she just cowers down and rolls over but loves to be petted and she adores belly rubs she loves to be talked to and adores walks!! She’s been great with the children she’s met! Because of her quirks Promise is in her crate way more than we would like. On the plus side she loves her crate and thinks of it as her little safe area. But we would dearly love to see this sweet sweet girl have a family to dote on her and shower her with love and affection. Her prognosis right now is excellent and our vet does not anticipate that she will have heavy medical needs in the future. Promise is also available to foster rather than adopt. To meet Promise give us a call/text at 270-987-6545.
