HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Public Safety Officers and sworn officers with the Hopkinsville Police Department were at Food Lion on Tuesday to collect donations for an ongoing food drive.
Hopkinsville Food Lion and Whites Auto mall are drop off locations for a food drive through Dec. 12. Hopkinsville officers were able to collect about $300 worth of food items during their time at Food Lion this week. Public Information Officer Royale Marfil with HPD says the donations will be distributed to local nonprofit organizations including The Sanctuary, Salvation Army, Micah’s Mission, Aaron McNeil House and Impact Ministries
Officer Marfil believes it’s important for the department to get involved with events like this so they can maintain their positive relationships with the organizations in the community. Many of the non-profits that will benefit from the drive are organizations the department often refers people in need to.
