HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Hopkinsville Electric System helps those who struggle in the community pay for their winter heating bills through The HES Project Share program.
The program works by collecting small contributions that are combined to a larger pool of money to assist those in need, according to HES. This includes helping the elderly on fixed incomes, or those who have experienced an unexpected job loss or major illness.
The combined contributions are matched dollar for dollar by HES and sent to Pennyrile Allied Community Services (PACS). PACS disperses it each winter to local residents who qualify for heating assistance funding.
HES encourages customers to round up their monthly bill to the nearest dollar to help with the program. To learn more about the program or to contribute funds visit the HES website.
