HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The Extreme Weather Event Shelter will be open at the Salvation Army Shelter in Hopkinsville tonight.
The emergency shelter will open at 7 p.m. at 313 East Seventh St. The shelter is opening due to temperatures dropping below 20 degrees with wind chill.
The cold weather shelter accommodates extra people with additional space, beds, and cold weather items. The usual requirements to stay at the shelter do not apply, and no identification is required. As a reminder, the shelter is always accepting donations and community help. Bath towels are among the items they are constantly in need of. Donations are generally higher as the holidays get closer, but the shelter stands all year.
