OAK GROVE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Many people daydream about quitting their full time jobs and following their passion instead. Jamie and Lesa Dussault have made this dream come true with Chef Jamie’s food truck. The Oak Grove couple quit their full time jobs four years ago and put their love for creativity and independence into a food truck.

Chef Jamie’s serves all over Kentucky, but mainly in Hopkinsville and Oak Grove. As a former executive chef, Jamie jumped on the opportunity when a trailer was for sale.

“We always liked the idea of having a restaurant, so why not start with a food truck?” said Jamie.

With just the two of them, the couple works hard to serve the community. “He does his part, and I do my part,” Lesa said with a laugh. “We work pretty good together.”

With a mouth-watering and everchanging menu, Jamie and Lesa are always on the hunt for new recipes and ideas. As a child, Jamie loved to cook, and he said his mom is the best he knows in the business. “Cooking kept me close to my mom and I even grew up in a pizzeria.”

The two swap food ideas and recipes every week. “Our customers are always asking what’s new,” Lesa said. Their signature dishes include a Monster Mac, Kentucky Bourbon Bacon Burger, Elote Street Corn, and a Steak Philly.

Ever since they started the food truck journey, Jamie and Lesa have found great support. “We have made so many friends, and we just love it,” Lesa said.

Right now, the truck is closed, but Chef Jamie’s will resume their season in April. “We have every weekend booked until we close it back up in December.”

This year, the truck will be attending Solar Eclipse Eddyville with an Over the Moon Burger, Oak Grove’s 420 festival, and host to a food truck rally at The Showbox theatre every second Wednesday, April through October.
