HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A ‘going out of business sale’ is happening at the South Clay Street Salvation Army thrift store while they prepare to shut down on March 8. The store is attempting to liquidate their in-stock items before they close. according to a news release from the Hopkinsville Salvation Army.
“While the decision to close the store was not made lightly, we believe it is a responsible step forward in enhancing our ability to serve the community more effectively,” said Lieutenant Lindsey Galabeas, a Corps Officer in Hopkinsville.
The store has faced declining sales and operational challenges over the years. The news releases said the closure presents an opportunity to redirect efforts toward more impactful initiatives.
“We plan to repurpose the store space to better meet the evolving needs of our community,” explained Lt. Galabeas. “Plans include establishing a clothing closet where our neighbors in need can access gently used clothing items.”
Until March 8, they will remain open Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The shelter in Hopkinsville will remain business as usual, along with regular services throughout the county.
