HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The Christian County Military Affairs Committee is planning to distribute 525 hams to soldiers on March 28 during their Hams for Heroes event.

From at 1-6 p.m. at Oak Grove Racing, Gaming & Hotel, the MAC will distribute hams on a first come first serve basis. Shannon Lane, the Director of Military Affairs with the MAC, told Christian County Now that this is their way of making sure soldiers are able to give themselves a proper easter meal.

This is the second year of Hams for Heroes in Christian County. Lane said they invested about $12,500 in purchasing the hams, and he knows they will go quickly. To make sure younger soldiers are prioritized, they are asking that higher ranked soldiers and veterans with their families wait until later in the afternoon to grab a ham.
