HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The Hopkinsville Fire Department is hosting a drive-thru car seat clinic on April 13 for families needing help or reassurance with car seat installation. This is the first time they are offering this free service, in hopes that the community will take advantage of it.
“We are excited to host the clinic because we believe it is an essential service to provide, ensuring the safety of the children in Hopkinsville,” said Deputy Fire Marshal Nathan Stewart.
On the day, participants can drive up between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. to have a certified HFD technician check their children’s car seat. Technicians can also properly install a car seat, conduct a thorough inspection of the car seat for any defects, help with adjustments, and demonstrate how to properly secure a child. There will also be a chance to receive a free car seat, on a first come first served basis.
Aside from this event, the fire department is always available for inspections and installs during the week by appointment.
“We understand that installing a car seat can be challenging, so offering assistance with installations or inspections may provide parents with peace of mind,” Stewart told Christian County Now.
The clinic will be held at EMS Station Four, at 9505 Eagle Way Bypass.
