HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A man and woman were arrested and charged with drug trafficking after a traffic stop on Fort Campbell Boulevard early Sunday evening.
Officers with the Hopkinsville Police Department initiated a traffic stop just after 4 p.m. on Fort Campbell Boulevard after a vehicle drove by with a driver and passenger not wearing a seatbelt. The 38-year-old driver was found to have an expired license, and a police report noted that he was nervously shaking.
Additional officers and a K9 unit were called on scene to search the vehicle. The dog alerted to narcotics in the vehicle and officers located residue of meth in the front passenger floorboard. A small black scale with white powder residue, several fentanyl test kits, a spray bottle of narcan, a ledger with names, several cell phones, and over $150 was found and seized as evidence.
A search of the two suspects yielded a small firearm in the man’s pockets, and the 41-year-old passenger had a clear glass pipe and small baggie of meth concealed in her clothes.
The suspects were arrested and charged with failure to wear seat belts, trafficking meth, using restricted ammo during felony, tampering with physical evidence, drug paraphernalia, and other drug related charges.
