CHRISTIAN COUNTY, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Christian County Emergency Management plans to support local organizations by donating travel trailers to the local weather spotters and a religious organization for community outreach and support.
Randy Graham, director of CCEM, explained that Kentucky Emergency Management provided two trailers for families to live in after their homes were damaged in May of 2024 when an EF-2 tornado travelled 19 miles in southern Christian County, causing damage in Pembroke.
The trailers in question are the type typically used for camping and can accommodate a family. Since CCEM does not have the capabilities to continuously store the trailers, Graham decided best use would be to donate both of them to local organizations that will utilize them in some sort of relief capacity.
One trailer will be donated to the Christian County Baptist Association, which is a local network of churches that provides local outreach services and ministry. Graham said they will use the trailer for disaster response purposes. The other trailer will be donated to the Christian County Weather Spotter Network, who plan to use the trailer for outreach programs.
The Christian County Fiscal Court declared the trailers as a surplus during the July 28 meeting, and they can now be donated. Christian County Judge Executive emphasized that this donation would ensure that they will be put to good use and further honor their intended original use.
