HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The Hopkinsville City Council approved the disbursement of $200,000 to over a dozen local organizations through their Hoptown Helps Grant Program.
The highest allocation was to the Pennyroyal Arts Council, which was awarded 22% of the available funds. This nonprofit operates through the historic Alhambra Theater in downtown Hopkinsville, offering educational youth camps and facilitating programing and performances focused on the arts.
This grant program was established in March of 2025, with the goal of supplying city dollars to nonprofit agencies in a fair and transparent matter through a competitive process. This replaced previous automatic funding structure and allowed for a wide range of organizations to apply for financial support.
How the grant money was divided up

Applications submitted by nonprofits between April 1 and May 31 were evaluated by the Future Funding Committee to determine how much would be allocated, and it was sent to the city council for approval via municipal order during the Aug. 4 meeting. The $200,000 was included in this fiscal year’s budget.
To be eligible, organizations were required to be within the city limits and awarded amount could not exceed more than 25% of their annual operational budget among other requirements. Last year 12 grants totaling just over $63,000 total were distributed and this year that increased to 15.
