HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation is bringing back the Pennyrile Senior Games from Sept. 23-25. Open to residents aged 50 and above, the event promises a diverse array of games for senior athletes.

“It is a joy to see the participants interact with one another while competing in 13 different events,” said Pam Rudd, Recreation Programs Coordinator. “They enjoy competing with one another in order to win medals in each event as well as socializing with participants from the nine-county area.”

Along with Christian County, the games are open to people in Caldwell, Crittenden, Hopkins, Livingston, Lyon, Muhlenberg, Todd and Trigg. Rudd says they are expecting about 250 participants this year.

Participants can enjoy corn toss, a one-mile walk, lawn bowling, shuffleboard, croquet, kick soccer, softball throw, bowling, and frisbee. Registration is open until Sept. 4. Interested individuals can pick up registration packets in person at the Thomas Street Recreation Center. Previous participants will receive their packets by mail, according to HPR.

In addition to the games, the event offers free health screenings, transportation options, door prizes, bingo, continental breakfast, lunch, dinner, and goodie bags. The registration fee is $7 for all field games, except for bowling which costs $15.
