HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – During the month of March, the Alhambra Theatre showcases several works of art, made up of student made creations from over 16 schools in the community. The works include clay pieces, watercolor, pencil, and more.

At the Hopkinsville Kiwanis meeting on Thursday, Arts Education Coordinator from the Pennyroyal Arts Council, Molly Campbell, explained how she works to recognize the youth in the community.

“We hold a reception to show the young people’s art,” Campbell said. “Their friends, family, and community can come.”

The 16 schools participating include private, public, and homeschooled students. The reception will be on Wednesday March 20, at 5 p.m. It is open to the public, and popcorn and light refreshments will be served.

Although the art work is not judged, it is chosen by art teachers in the community who were allowed to submit up to 15 pieces to be displayed. After the reception, every student will be recognized with a certificate on the Alhambra Theatre’s stage.

To see the art work, visit the Alhambra Theatre, 507 South Main Street. The theatre is open Tuesday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
