HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – On Monday, Nov. 13, Christian County Public Schools announced that Ambrea Watkins had been unanimously voted in to fill the vacant 2nd District School Board seat, according to a press release from CCPS.

The press release said that there were three applicants for the opening before Wakins had been selected, and those other candidates included Virginia Erxleben and Marsha Garnett.

Now that Watkins is approved to take the vacant seat, she will be finishing the term for Tiffany Mumford Brame, who resigned in early October.

Watkins was raised in Hopkinsville and is a 2005 graduate of Christian County High School. She holds an associate of science degree from Hopkinsville Community College and is a graduate of Queens Beauty College as a licensed cosmetologist. In addition, she is actively pursuing a degree as a Registered Nurse. Watkins also owns an online boutique and is a founder of a local non-profit organization.

“I believe it to be of great importance to take an active role in your community,” Watkins said. “As a businesswoman, entrepreneur, wife and mother, I want what is best for our schools and believe together we can provide our children with an education they can be proud of.”
