CHRISTIAN COUNTY, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A tractor flipped during a collision in Crofton, leaving two young children and a woman with injuries on Memorial Day.
On May 25 around 5 p.m., deputies with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an injury accident in the area of West Princeton Street and Poole Mill Road involving a vehicle and a farm tractor. An infant and a two-year-old toddler were inside the tractor when the accident occurred and sustained multi-system trauma, according to Payton Rogers with Hopkinsville Fire/EMS.
Their mother, a 32-year-old Crofton woman who was driving the tractor, told deputies that a pickup truck pulled out in front of them at an intersection, causing the tractor to flip. The 19-year-old driver of the truck said he did not see the tractor, with witnesses reporting that his vehicle essentially ran the stop sign before colliding with the tractor.
Two separate helicopters transported the children to Saint Vincent Hospital in Evansville, Indiana for treatment and their mother was taken via ambulance for her injures. Rogers told Christian County Now that there was no indication that anyone in the tractor was restrained before the crash.
