HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – With the goal of highlighting the growing number of small businesses along the Fort Campbell Boulevard corridor in Hopkinsville, the BLVD Bash will be held on Saturday, June 15, and will span across roughly three miles featuring live music, entertainment and art.
“The BLVD Bash is a brand-new event this year. Historically, the focus has been on the downtown businesses of Hopkinsville,” said Diane Tuner with the Small Business Commision. She is hoping community support will allow this to become an annual event.
Along with plenty of shopping along the strip of business in the area, a kid’s zone will be set up on Skyline Drive at Fun Zone with free bouncers, a foam party and pancake art. For art and vendors, people can head over between Hampton Inn and Suites and TownePlace Suites on Richard Mills Drive. That evening, the Showbox will be the hub for entertainment with several live performances happening between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.
The idea was initially conceived by Pam Hale, with Hampton Inn and Suites, and Cat Lacy, with Planters Bank. Their idea to host a block party grew, eventually gaining steam when they approached Mayor Knight about being the title sponsor for the event. “Hopkinsville is committed to helping small businesses grow and expand, and this was just one way the city could show support,” said Turner.
Festivities for the event begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, find updates and a map of participating businesses on the BLVD Bash Facebook page.
