HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Rather than discarding your old solar eclipse glasses, Christian County Public Schools is encouraging families to donate them.

High school students involved in the CCPS Gifted and Talented Program are undertaking a service project to collect solar eclipse glasses, according to a news release from CCPS.

The goal of the project is to gather gently used pairs of the glasses to donate to students and families in Latin America so they can experience the annular solar eclipse, which will occur for them in October 2024.

Drop off boxes will be located in the front lobby of each Christian County public school, as well as the central office located on 200 Glass Avenue. Families can drop off their used glasses until Thursday, April 18.
