HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – During the school board meeting on Nov.21, coordinators of the Christian County Public Schools Student Life website presented updates on the new platform that was launched in August.
The idea for the CCPS student website came about over six months ago when Coach Kerry Stovall presented the idea to the district, according to Superintendent Chris Bentzel. “I want to say the student life website has really taken off and they are doing a great job,” said Bentzel.
Those behind the website, including John and Crystal Richards and Thomas Wise, thanked the board for their support and said the website showcases schools throughout the district. “We wanted to make it where it’s not just about sports,” said John Richards. “We hear so much about sports, but we want to hear about the students making perfect ACT scores, the honor roll kids, and we want to hear about every student we possibly can.”
The website highlights everything from Academic Teams to National Honor Society, band, choir, student council, bass fishing, track, softball, art club, and more. Parents and students can scroll through pictures from events and organizations across the district’s campuses. Announcements are also posted on the website which can be found under the Latest News tab.
“Every school and every environment gets a voice,” said Crystal Richards. In just under three months, the website is set to hit 100,000 page views. “That’s a great testament to how awesome our kids are and how awesome our community is,” added Richards. In the future, the three coordinators hope to add more information and more content from the elementary schools and middle schools.
