CHRISTIAN COUNTY, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Christian County residents must sign up for a newly established trash service now that the fiscal court has approved a different franchise bid agreement with Impact Waste Service. This officially changes the residential and commercial trash service for the county.

The Christian County Fiscal Court approved the agreement during the May 26 meeting after a committee evaluated incoming bids for service and provided a recommendation. Judge Executive Jerry Gilliam compared the residential monthly price between the current service with GFL and Impact Waste.

  • GFL residential cost per month: $16.33, rising to $19.10 by 2031
    • Additional bin cost: $6.80
  • Impact Waste residential cost per month: $12.41, rising to $13.97 by 2031
    • Additional bin cost: $4

The City of Oak Grove also separately entered into a new franchise agreement with the same service, with representatives telling officials at the time that they offer local customer service that will respond within 24 hours, and they are willing to be flexible with customers while remaining efficient.

What residents can expect from transition, how to sign up

This change for Christian County will take effect July 1 and does not include residents in the city limits of Crofton, Hopkinsville and Pembroke. Current GFL customers must sign up on the Impact Waste website by June 12 to allow new containers to be delivered before July 1.

Pick up dates will be determined after residents are signed up and are subject to change from the current schedule under the new service.

Gilliam said they are going to ramp up efforts to communicate the change to the public to ensure people sign up to prevent lapse in service. Residents will pay with the current waste provider through June and will then be billed every three months by Impact.

To sign up or ask questions, residents can contact Impact Waste at (270) 660-8331 or (270) 584-9030, or email them at impactwasteservice@gmail.com.
