HOPKINSVILLE, KY –In response to the extreme heat, The Salvation Army of Hopkinsville will open a cooling station and extend their Emergency Shelter hours effective Wednesday.

Cooling Station:

  • Location: 313 E 7th Street in Hopkinsville
  • Hours: 9:00am-4:30pm
  • Duration: Through Friday, August 2

Emergency Shelter:

  • Extended Hours: 24 hours a day
  • Duration: Through Saturday, August 3
  • Location: same as above

Lieutenant David Donegan, Corps Officer, emphasized the importance of these measures, stating, “The well-being of our community is our top priority. With the current extreme heat, it is crucial that we provide a safe and cool environment for those in need. Our doors are open to anyone seeking relief from the heat, and we encourage the community to support these efforts.”

To support these efforts, The Salvation Army is seeking community assistance. The daily expenses for operating at extended hours are $200. Donations can be dropped off at 313 E 7th Street, Hopkinsville, KY, or mailed to PO Box 427, Hopkinsville, KY 42241. Donations can also be made online at www.SalvationArmyHopkinsville.org. We are also accepting donations of bottled water to ensure the safety and comfort of those seeking relief from the heat.
