HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Cars collided and engines roared Saturday night as the demolition derby returned to the Western Kentucky State Fairgrounds in Hopkinsville.
The derby was part of a weekend of events at the fairgrounds. Farm and altered farm truck and tractor pulls were held Friday night, followed by Saturday’s demolition derby. The events gave spectators another opportunity to visit the fairgrounds after the 75th Western Kentucky State Fair was held earlier this summer.

Drivers competed in several classes during the demolition derby, including Full Size Cars, Compact Class, Gut & Go Full Size Cars and Most Wanted Fine Arts.
A total of $12,750 in prize money was offered across the four classes. The Full Size Cars division featured the largest prize at $5,000, with $2,500 for first place, $1,500 for second and $1,000 for third.
The Compact Class offered $3,250 in total prize money, with $1,500 for first place, $1,000 for second and $750 for third.
The Gut & Go Full Size Cars and Most Wanted Fine Arts classes each offered $2,250 in prize money. First place in each class received $1,000, followed by $750 for second and $500 for third.
