HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Hopkinsville Community College President Alissa Young will now be referred to as Chancellor Alissa Young due to a recent legislative change that impacts all Kentucky Community and Technical College Systems.

“Dr. Alissa Young, formerly President of HCC, is now Chancellor of HCC as part of a KCTCS systemwide title change,” said a statement from HCC. “While her title is new, her leadership, dedication, and commitment to our students, employees, college, and region remain the same.”

As laid out in House Bill 619, the term “chancellor” now refers to the chief officer of a college. The HCC cabinet is now comprised of multiple “vice chancellors” for various departmetns underneath Dr. Young.

The title of “president” will now only refer to leadership at the state level within KCTCS, who is currently Dr. Ryan Quarles.

“As Dr. Young approaches her ninth year leading HCC and celebrates 35 years of service to the college, we are proud to recognize this new chapter,” continued the statement from HCC. “Her leadership continues to reflect HCC’s mission and commitment to serving our community.”
