HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – It is that time of year to break out the Halloween decorations, put up the six foot skeleton and dress the bushes with cobwebs. Beginning Oct. 1, local residents can participate in a Halloween home decorating contest, hosted by Hopkinsville Beautification.
“We had great participation last year, and I have already seen some houses decorating, so I am hoping it will be just as fun this year,” said Heather Braun, Beautification Coordinator.
The annual contest, Boo’tification, will run from Oct. 1 to the 25th, in hopes of finding the spookiest houses in the area. Residents with the most attention to detail and creativity are likely to win this spooky competition and take home an award provided by the beautification team.
Winners will be announced and posted on social media on Oct. 30. “If someone won the contest last year, they will not be eligible to win this year,” Braun told Christian County Now.
She adds that participants will be judged during the day and night, so they will need to have a good mix of decorations. Anyone can enter their own home or someone else’s by contacting Hopkinsville Public Works at 270-890-0703, or by emailing Heather Braun at heather.braun@h-ky.us. Participants should provide a name, address, and a phone number.
