HOPKINSVILLE, KY – The Hopkinsville Community College Foundation has received a $5,000 grant from the Julian-Carver Family Foundation, Inc. of Versailles, Ky.  These funds will support HCC’s PATH to Completion project, helping nonactive students achieve their credential.

“We are committed to providing every student with the support and resources they need to be successful at HCC,” said Angel Prescott, HCC vice president for student affairs. “These grant funds will help us reach a specified group of inactive students and give them specialized service so they can complete their credential.”

The project will analyze the challenges facing inactive HCC students who have nearly completed their credentials, re-engage with those students, and provide need-based support to help the student earn their credential.

The bulk of grant funds are designated to employ a temporary college navigator who will contact inactive students who are at least 75% to completion of their credential. The college navigator will help connect these near-completers with appropriate student services and re-enroll them in their program of study.

The Julian-Carver Family Foundation was established in 2018 to support education in the southern region of the United States and has awarded funds to community and technical colleges across Kentucky. The grant program is focused on helping students attain certificates, diplomas, or degrees. The foundation’s commitment is to help students achieve academic success and move into rewarding careers.
