HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Emergencies do not often arrive at the front door of Fire Station 4 in Hopkinsville. But when they do, fire crews are ready.

A car pulled up in the driveway of the Hopkinsville Fire Department and fire crews quickly realized the passenger in the vehicle was not breathing. Crews leaped into action to assist. Their quick thinking can be seen in a video the fire department posted on Facebook showcasing the team’s actions.

“The victim was fortunate that crews were in house at the time this medical emergency occurred,” HFD spokesperson Payton Rogers told Christian County Now. “Incidents of this nature are very rewarding for our crews and we wish the individual a speedy recovery.”

The video captures the man lying on the ground in front of the station while crew members begin chest compressions to establish his airways and set up IV access. After an AED shock was delivered, a faint pulse was detected. The man was then airlifted to a medical facility and is expected to fully recover.
