HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The Hopkinsville Christian County Public Library is making significant strides in its renovation project as they reopen their newly upgraded restrooms.
“With the completion of the new public restrooms downstairs, the HCCPL Renovation Project is about 25% finished,” said Tiffany Luna, executive director. The restrooms are now not only modern but wheelchair accessible, ADA compliant and stroller friendly. The women’s restroom now has two stalls and the men’s restroom has one stall and a urinal. They feature automatic soap dispensers, hand dryers, and include baby changing stations.
With this portion complete, renovations are continuing upstairs and on the elevator. Patrons can still visit the library but can expect services on a smaller scale, according to Luna. “We moved our computer lab and printing services to the first floor,” Luna said. “A limited selection from our nonfiction collection is available downstairs, as well as Genealogy materials from Christian County.”
They will rework the floor plan of the upstairs to accommodate the new children’s and teen programming section. The teen space will include individual pods where they can study, a large selection of reading material, along with charging stations and a gaming station.
The full renovation project is expected to be completed this spring.
