HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The Hoptown Hoppers gathered Wednesday evening at Camo Caravan in downtown Hopkinsville to meet-and-greet with community members in celebration of the upcoming 2026 season. Players and community members alike were seen mingling while enjoying food and drinks.

Caden Slaughter, an infielder from Clarksville, Tennessee told Christian County Now he has played baseball all of his life and the reason he continues is to be a role model for younger generations. Carson Knowles, a catcher and second baseman from Eagleville, Tennessee is staying with a local host family here in Hopkinsville for the season. He said, “They took me right in and it’s been a great experience.”

Many players said their parents played baseball and softball, as well as childhood friends. Reed Hayes, an outfielder from Fort Wayne, Indiana said playing baseball has always made him feel safe and happy. He is excited to play in Hopkinsville because kids really get involved and he wants to be a role model for young players.

“I’m looking forward to giving the game back to the younger kids,” Hayes said. During the event, players urged community members to come out to games and have a good time this season.
