HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Private and public schools throughout Christian County prepare to raise money inside and outside of the classroom for the Rotary Club’s 74th Annual Auction on April 22-27.
In 2023, schools added over $63,000 for the auctions total of $520,000. At the Hopkinsville Rotary Club meeting on Tuesday, students from elementary, middle and high schools shared their fundraising ideas.
Many ideas were creative and playful concepts including, pie in the face, teacher jean day, and ice bucket dump on a teacher. One student shared how students and staff raised money to see their principal kiss a pig. Another student shared how high school seniors will be able to paint their parking spot for $1.
This year, the auction is named Purposeful Pathways in an effort to fund student’s education at their point of need, according to Rotary’s auction chair Kelly Gates. At the end of the auction, the school that raises the most money per capita and was the most improved will earn $500 towards a student party. New this year, the school with the highest received donation will receive $5oo for anything chosen by the teachers and students.
“This could be for a special project completed at the school, or something to thank your students and faculty,” explained Gates.
