HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – For those brave enough to battle the heat this weekend, there are a few events to check out in Hopkinsville and Christian County. Head to Oak Grove for a butterfly release, participate in yoga in the park, visit a Crofton farm to enjoy local breweries and more.

Yoga in the Park

  • When: Saturday, Sept. 5 at 10 a.m.
  • Where: Rotary Park, Hopkinsville
  • Cost: Free
  • Details: Join Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation and Balance Hoptown for an outdoor yoga session surrounded by nature. Participants can enjoy a calm morning of movement and relaxation in the park.

18th Annual Butterfly Festival

  • Where: War Memorial Walking Trail, Oak Grove
  • When: Saturday, Sept. 5 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Cost: Free
  • Details: The annual family-friendly festival will feature a butterfly house, children’s train rides, a petting zoo, carnival rides, arts and crafts, food vendors and more. About 3,000 live butterflies will be released at 4 p.m. The event promotes conservation, environmental education and outdoor recreation.

Dolly Day

  • Where: Various locations in downtown Hopkinsville
  • When: Saturday, Sept. 5
  • Cost: Donations through purchases
  • Details: Hopkinsville Brewing Company and The Book and Bottle Shop will donate 9.5% of their total sales to support the Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library’s Imagination Library program in memory of Dolly. Baked and The Mixer will also have Dolly inspired specials

Hops and Harvest Lantern Festival

  • Where: Burdoc Farms Weddings & Events, Crofton
  • When: Saturday, Sept. 5, 3-8 p.m.
  • Cost: $21.20 per carload
  • Details: The inaugural Hops and Harvest Lantern Festival will feature craft beer from breweries across Kentucky, local food trucks, live music and light displays. Each vehicle admission includes one lantern for a community lantern launch, with additional lanterns available for purchase.
