HOPKINSVILLE, KY – A utility provider completed work on Wednesday that required the full closure of Lafayette Road (KY 107) and Lover’s Lane in Christian County.
This work required an open cut to be made across the entire width of Lafayette Road, forcing the full closure. With that work completed, KYTC has now reopened both Lafayette Road and Lover’s Lane.
The utilities portion of the Lafayette Road project is still scheduled to last until the end of the month, but with the needs of the agricultural community in mind, KYTC plans to minimize closures of the roadway through the remainder of this portion of the project. Motorists should expect periodic lane closures, with alternating traffic flow controlled by flaggers while work continues to relocate utilities outside of the path of the project.
Once the utility phase of construction is completed, work will pause until spring, when construction of the newly designed intersection is scheduled to begin. Details of plans for the next phase will be released once they are scheduled.
The project includes improving the grade and elevation of KY 107 at its intersection with Lovers Lane to provide better line of sight for motorists, and adding turn lanes to both KY 107 and Lovers Lane at this intersection.
