Updated 6:20 p.m. The Hopkinsville Fire Department has confirmed that a total of 14 patients were transported to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the accident.
The crash took place at a section of the interstate where ongoing construction is taking place, with concrete barriers in place to separate the single east and westbound lanes.
According to HFD, multiple agencies responded to the wreck including Fort Campbell EMS, Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department, Todd County EMS, Montgomery County EMS, Christan County Emergency Management, Christian County Sheriff’s Office, and Christian County Rescue.

HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A wreck on the interstate Sunday afternoon has resulted in multiple casualties in Christian County.
Just before 4 p.m., emergency services responded to an accident involving an 18-wheeler at the 91-mile marker of I-24 westbound. Multiple vehicles were impacted during the accident.
Hopkinsville Fire/EMS reported soon after that the wreck had been upgraded to a mass casualty incident with at least 12 patients involved. Both the westbound and eastbound lanes of I-24 are completely blocked. Motorists are advised to avoid this area.
