HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Men 2 Be, a local non-profit, is collecting donations of gently worn coats for an upcoming community coat drive.

“We will have at least 150 new coats for school-aged children and up,” said LaDessa Lewis, founder of Men 2 Be. Lewis says the rest of the coats given out will be donations collected from the community and is asking for all sizes and ages. “We don’t have an exact number, but we hope to have plenty.”

They will be distributing coats at Attucks High School on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 9 a.m. at Attucks High School. Lewis and the group will also be handing out gloves and hats. “We really hope to help those in need with these items, allowing them to allocate their money towards other necessities.”

Men 2 Be strives to empower young men in the community to reach their full academic, social, and personal potential. Lewis says that teaching boys the importance of serving others is one of the first steps in becoming a man. “Putting others needs before your own, especially when you have the means to do so. Sometimes, it’s just making sacrifices for the betterment of others,” said Lewis.

Those looking to donate a gently used coat can drop off donations at Men 2 Be at the Bryan Street location, or contact 270-348-4753 for more information.
