HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The driver that fatally struck 50-year-old Elizabeth Jessup of Hopkinsville on Russellville Road has been additionally charged with probation violation and vehicular homicide. The accident occurred near Airport Road in the area of Western State Hospital on Sept. 15.
According to her obituary from Gamble Funeral Home, Jessup worked as a Med Tech/Aide at Western State Hospital, a role that reflected her steady presence and her willingness to serve. She leaves behind two daughters and two grandchildren.
The driver was heading to the gas station around 8:30 p.m., he told police that he did not see the woman when he entered the turning lane since she was wearing dark colored clothing. Officers found a glass pipe in the center console of his truck, and a search warrant was obtained for a blood test.
The initial arrest report released by HPD said that Richard Fisk of Hopkinsville was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of a substance and possession of drug paraphernalia as a result of the crash. According to the latest information from the Christian County Jail, Fisk is additionally being charged with vehicular homicide when under the influence of drugs/substance as well as probation violation for a felony offense.
