HOPKINSVILLE, KY – The Pennyroyal Arts Council invites local artists to submit proposals for an exciting new project: the Mural Art Camp, taking place Oct. 5-9, 2026, in downtown Hopkinsville.
The selected artist will lead a week-long camp designed to engage community youth in the creation of a public art piece. The project will culminate in a vibrant new mural on the wall of a local business, adding to the Pennyroyal Arts Council’s growing collection of public art murals throughout the city and enhancing the cultural landscape of downtown.
Artist Responsibilities:
- Designing the mural concept. Mural to be Approximately 19’x12’
- Instructing and guiding 10 student participants throughout the week.
- Leading camp sessions from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- Providing a required supply list in advance of the camp.
- Ensuring the mural is completed by the end of camp.
Mural Guidelines: Artists are encouraged to propose designs that are Jazz-related, interactive, and reflective of Hopkinsville’s unique heritage and character. The mural should provide opportunities for community interaction, such as photo-friendly elements or creative perspectives.
Submission Details: Interested artists should submit the following for consideration:
- A proposed mural concept (sketches, mockups, or digital renderings welcome).
- A brief statement about how the design connects to Jazz music, and Hopkinsville’s community.
- The artist’s required fee for participation and leadership of the camp.
- A required supply list for the camp.
- Portfolio examples of previous mural or large-scale artwork projects (if available).
