HOPKINSVILLE, KY – Dogs and cats of all ages, breeds, sizes are waiting to be adopted at the Christian County Animal Shelter. The shelter is at 2935 Russellville Road, and the phone number is 270-887-4175. Business hours are Tuesday-Saturday from 10:30 a.m.-4 p.m. and the shelter is closed for lunch from 12:30-1 p.m.

Here are two animals the shelter recommends this week for adoption:

Meet JJ. She is a 6-month-old Great Pyrenees mix that was released to the shelter because they had too many. She has done good with the other dogs that she has been kenneled with here at the shelter. They were not told if she has ever been around cats or children, but she is still young enough to be socialized with everything. She is not house trained, or crate trained, but she is young enough to be trained! She has been given her first round of vaccines and is heartworm negative as of April 27. She is now ready to find her new furr-ever home! JJ’s adoption fee is $115.

Thing 1 is a 2 year old DSH. (Contributed)

Meet Thing 1. She is a 2-year-old DSH that was released to the shelter because they were being forced to move. She was good with the other cats and dogs that he came in with, so she should do fine with other animals. She loves children as well! The previous owner said that she is litter box trained, but she has not been using the litter box at the shelter. It could be that she is just nervous, so don’t count her out! She could use the litter box just fine at your house. She has been given her first round of vaccines and is FLV/FIV/HW NEGATIVE as of March 2. Thing 1 is already spayed! Thing 1 is now ready to find her new furr-ever home! Thing 1’s adoption fee is $50.
