OAK GROVE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Wades Way Park in Oak Grove is soon expecting a full renovation complete with new mulch, ADA accessible equipment, and more. Christian County Now has received a look at the mockup of the future design.
Playground equipment is currently being delivered, including large sets that consist of multiple structures according to City of Oak Grove Finance Director Matt Egbert. One of the structures features musical instruments, sensory panels, two slides, and a crawl tube, suited for ages two to five. Another structure will be built for older kids which will have three slides and numerous climbers.
The playground will feature an ADA-inclusive merry go round and a new swing set with belted seats and other adaptive seat customizations.
“The goal is to minimize the interruption to the neighborhood playground services. So, the old equipment will not be dismantled until the last week prior to construction beginning,” said Egbert. He shared that the current equipment will not be salvaged due to age and wear.
With ADA accessibility in mind, the playground will consist of wood fiber mulch with a poured pathway and access ramp. Egbert shares that there is no construction timeline as of yet.
