HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – An 18-year-old was arrested after crashing his vehicle into a pond while attempting to evade police during a high-speed chase in Hopkinsville.
According to a police report, officers responded to a burglary in progress early Friday morning on Allis Chalmers Road. While driving to the residence, officers observed a vehicle matching the description of the suspect’s car that had been reported.
While attempting a traffic stop, the driver fled the scene reaching speeds over 100 mph. The pursuit lasted several miles before the suspect drove his vehicle into a pond.
The suspect was arrested and charged with speeding, first-degree fleeing or evading police, wanton endangerment, possession of open alcohol container, resisting arrest and more traffic charges.
