Updated 5:22 p.m.: The Hopkinsville Fire Department reports that two household cats are unaccounted for after the fire.

HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A house was severely damaged in a fire Wednesday afternoon in downtown Hopkinsville.

Around 3:30 p.m. on June 10, the Hopkinsville Fire Department received a call about smoke in the area of East Seventh and Thompson Street. Firefighters arrived to find a home well involved in a fire with flames coming out from the front of the home, according to Payton Rogers with HFD.

All residents in the home were able to evacuate prior to the arrival of emergency crews. As of 4 p.m., firefighters were still on the scene, and the surrounding roadways are blocked.
