HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The Salvation Army building in Hopkinsville, located on the 300 block of East 7th Street, was damaged by a fire early Thursday morning, according to the Hopkinsville Fire Department.

In the early hours of Aug. 8, two fire stations were alerted of a possible structure fire after a caller noticed smoke coming from the Salvation Army building at around 12:30 a.m. Thursday. Firefighters arrived within minutes to locate a small fire inside, that was quickly extinguished.

HFD says there was minimal damage to the building, and no one was inside at the time. The cause of the fire is believed to have been due to an electrical malfunction near an outlet.
