HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A semi-truck was travelling westbound on Newstead Road when it ran off the right side and flipped onto its side early Thursday morning, according to reports from Christian County Sheriff’s Office.
The vehicle was travelling 55 mph when it flipped onto its passenger side striking multiple trees. It came to a final rest with the front of the vehicle facing south and completely blocking the roadway of Newstead Road.
The driver said he felt the load shift in the trailer when he lost control of the vehicle. He tried to regain control but was unable to, according to reports.
Deputies observed multiple large spools of coiled steel inside and outside of the trailer.
The driver was transported to Jennie Stuart Medical Center with head, neck and back injuries.
