OAK GROVE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Several residents in Oak Grove have taken the next step toward community leadership by filing for the general election in November to serve on the city council.
Hopkinsville just wrapped up the May primary which determined the standing of several candidates for the general election and selected Christian County’s sheriff and PVA. Oak Grove has nonpartisan races and did not participate in the May primary election.
Other cities outside of Hopkinsville in the county including Pembroke, Crofton and Oak Grove will also participate in council and mayoral races this fall. The nonpartisan deadline in Christian County to file for the November 2026 election is June 2.
Oak Grove City Council candidates as of May 21:

- Councilmember Jean Leavell
- Melissa Lynch
- Jane McKnight
- Councilmember Isaiah Spencer
- Lloyd Walters
Out of these individuals who have filed, six candidates will be elected to the council. There are no ward or district distinctions for this city.
Two current councilmembers, John Campbell and Janet Edwards are not on the ballot, and instead are both running against Mayor Jackie Oliver in November.
