CHRISTIAN COUNTY, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – There are a few fun, community events to be part of this weekend in Hopkinsville and Christian County. Watch local singers perform for their chance to win some cash, attend a Hoptown Hoppers game and head to Oak Grove for a festival.

Hoptown Idol

  • Where: Founders Square in Hopkinsville
  • When: July 24 at 6 p.m.
  • Cost: Free
  • Details: Aspiring singers will compete in Hoptown Idol, a live vocal competition hosted in downtown Hopkinsville. Contestants previously submitted an audition for a chance to perform. The winner will receive a $500 cash prize and a two-hour professional recording session from Hip Hoptown Records.

OVL Playoffs: Hoptown Hoppers vs. Fulton Railroaders

  • Where: Hopkinsville High School Tiger Field in Hopkinsville
  • When: July 24 and July 26 at 6:30 p.m.
  • Cost: $7
  • Details: The Hoptown Hoppers host the Fulton Railroaders in Ohio Valley League playoff action, playing both Friday and Sunday night in Hopkinsville.

Kentucky Bands, Bourbon & Wine Festival

  • Where: War Memorial Walking Trail Park in Oak Grove
  • When: July 25, 3-9 p.m.
  • Cost: Free admission and parking
  • Details: The Oak Grove Tourism Commission’s fourth annual event will feature Kentucky wineries, distilleries and breweries, along with live music, food trucks, local vendors and activities. The festival also includes the Bourbon & Brakes Car Show, showcasing classic, custom and specialty vehicles. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
