HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The community is invited to visit Jeffers Bend Environmental Center to learn about and enjoy the great outdoors during this year’s Naturefest.
The event will be Saturday, Sept. 19 from 1-4 p.m. for an afternoon of nature centered activities and family fun. Around 40 vendors will be set up where visitors can enjoy the expansive greenspace and trails while learning about bees, birding, plants and more. Among the many activities offered, there will be canoe rides, corn hole, face painting, hayrides, pumpkin painting and a petting zoo.
Each year during Naturefest, kids are able to participate in a poster contest where they can draw a picture to go along with a specific theme for a chance to win first, second, or third place cash prizes.
This is one of Jeffers Bend’s biggest events of the year, having just come off of their Hummingbird Festival this summer. On Oct. 17 they will have their Halloween event, Torchlight Tales, with Christmas at the Bend on Dec. 5.
Admission is $10 per car, and active-duty military and first responders with an ID are free. There will door prize drawings at 3:45 p.m. To get to Jeffers Bend, cars can enter by Riverside Cemetery, turning from North Main Street onto Metcalfe Lane.
