Update, 8:35 p.m.: A Flood Warning has been issued through 6 a.m. for Christian, Todd and Trigg counties. “Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable.
At 8:34 p.m., weather spotters reported heavy rain in the area. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Between 1.5 and 3 inches of rain have fallen, and an additional 0.5 inches is possible.
Update, 6:30 p.m.: A Flood Warning for the South Fork Little River in Hopkinsville has been issued by the National Weather Service
“Sustained moderate rainfall rates today have raised water levels on the South Fork Little River, with flood stage projected to briefly be exceeded this evening near 68/80,” the NWS said. “Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.”
At 5:30 p.m., the river stage was 13.3 feet. The river is forecast to rise above the 15-foot flood stage this evening with a maximum value of 16.2 feet later this evening. It is projected to fall below flood stage late just before midnight.
