Weekend weather: Heat Advisory issued for Christian County as summer kicks off

Clear skies and sunny days are to be expected this weekend in Hopkinsville, with the highs reaching 94 degrees and the lows in the low 70's.

HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Summer starts Friday, and it’s kicking off a weekend of extreme heat. The National Weather Service as issued a Heat Advisory that is in effect from Saturday, June 21 through June 24.

Hot temperatures and humidity may cause the heat index to rise as high as 108 degrees. The first prolonged stretch of heat and humidity of the season will cause heat impacts to be greater than normal, according to NWS.

Highs will remain in the mid-90s well into next week.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 89. Light south-southwest wind.
Friday night: Clear, with a low around 69. Light south-southeast wind.
Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 92. South wind 5 to 7 mph.
Saturday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 73. South wind 3 to 5 mph.
Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 94. South southwest wind 3 to 6 mph.
Sunday night: Clear, with a low around 74. Light south wind.
