HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – As part of a new initiative, the Christian County Sheriff’s Office along with the Department of Community Based Services has partnered to support children in need for a yearlong donation drive.

Every month, DCBS invites community members to donate a distinct new item to support foster youth. The full schedule is listed below.

  • May- Drawstring bags
  • June- Dental hygiene products
  • July- Feminine hygiene products
  • August- Haircare
  • September- School supplies
  • October- Body care
  • November- Cold weather gear
  • December- Art supplies
  • January- Socks
  • February- Underwear and panties
  • March- Anything hygiene related
  • April- Teen specific items such as makeup, perfume, cologne, body spray, etc.

Chris Miller with the CCSO says that its important to support those in need in the community. “Working in the system we see the struggles of those less fortunate and it’s vital to work together to help support  the youth,” Miller said.  Miller also said all the donations will be staying local for Christian County residents.

Donation boxes have been placed at the CCSO lobby, 701 West 7 Street and at the Hopkinsville Police Department, 101 North Main Street. Donations can be dropped off Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
