HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – On April 4, a man and woman were charged with drug trafficking after large amounts of meth were found in a suitcase in their car.
The arrest occurred after a three-month long investigation involving Kentucky State Police, Hopkinsville Police Department Special Investigations, and Army Criminal Investigation Division.
Hopkinsville Police said in a news release that an SUV driven by the 38-year-old female suspect and a 37-year-old male passenger was stopped on Interstate-24 by Kentucky State Police Drug Enforcement and Special Investigations Unit. They had previously received information about a large number of drugs being transported into Hopkinsville and Western Kentucky.
A suitcase was found in the vehicle containing approximately 22 pounds of suspected crystal meth. Both the driver and the passenger were arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamine and booked into the Christian County Jail.
